I agree about the rust, my 1994 R8 420 was 15 years old and had less rust underneath than either of the 2005 ZS.

Enjoy the beacons btw

Aye, the 420 was gone on the outer rear arches, but Jesus I did not expect to whack a hole through my inner wing with a hammer !

Such a shame, they really did cut bloody corners in the end, my ti is 3 years older, has more miles on it, and is in much better nick.

Take a look at the front jacking points as well, they rot for fun.

Jacking points cleaned and undersealed... Suface stuff but still strong !

Cheers for the link, well I'm traveling Sunday, so at least the drive should be ok (dont like towing) rain would make it worse.
Not to far at least, couple of hours... Will be nice to have a week off in any case

For those interested... not much done really, holidays and underpaid has taken a toll on what i have been able to do, plus the weather is not great anymore.

Welding to the inner wing has been done, and new rear discs and pads.

Sent my old Ti ecu off to best of british on monday, had it back wednesday de immobilized !

Epicly quick service, cant recommend them enough.

All thats needed now is to sort the sticking tb and tighten a few clips, the battery is on charge as we speak and it shall be moted shortly.

I now have a real deadline, the mot on the 600 runs out on the second of november, and it will take more time and effort to get that through a test than the ZS imo.

So ZS here we come !

New side repeater supplied by maxtherotti for postage ! Cheers.

New rear brake discs and pads fitted... one of the calipers was abit tight and reqired cleaning, and both the lower sliders where seized solid ! my god they made a huge difference on a quick test up and down the road.

Last but not least... the rot !

Not to fussed about putting pics up now as its a damn solid job, the steel used was actually thicker that what was cut out. it should outlast the rest of the car now, massive thanks to my father in law for coming 100 miles (each way) a few saturdays back to help me out, he is a well seasoned welder (all types) and jumped in his van as soon as i asked ! couldnt have a better father in law.

So first pictures of the OSF inner wing/chassis.

Looked tatty, so started digging.

And found this...

I was kinda peeved about this as you might imagine, but its come out ok now.

The inside, top and bottom where rot free ???

Filled the inner wing with stone chip via an engine mount hole lol.

The finished result looks like this.

That looks a good solid job, I've seen a few go rotten like that, and I've no idea why, it's worth keeping an eye on that area as it seems to be prone to tin worm.

Still liking the colour of your wheels as well

The red one that Sam broke had gone there as well.

Good luck with the MOT.
