lightweight steel flywheel is nice for a relitivly small ?250ish?

The head has already had a light skim before it was rebuilt last time with a new gasket, and it's not been run since... so hopefully that will be ok.

Where's the bast place to get a flywheel?

Go the whole hog Ross ;-) its worth it.... Trust me!
I see you've discovered my post on Rovertech then I'll not be building the fancy engine until the rest of the car is set up using the other standard T series... but there's no harm in doing the prep work now.

Seems my 300bhp estimate might be a bit low if everything goes to plan

Thumbs up

I got mine from ekspower over on XPF for about ?235. You will need to buy the uprated bolts for it as well. Superb mod.

for me to put it together, not a lot. you can supply parts if you want, i dont have a problem if they are good quality.

Well as some of you might have spotted on my facebook I hit a huge setback yesterday

The place that was making up the brake brackets are convinced the rear hubs have been bodged beyond repair to fit the big centre locking stud. They recon if I even try and corner it will fail and whe wheel will come off with the hub, brakes and other guff still attached.

Hopefully the front hubs can be salvaged but it looks like they are guff too

Gutted isn't the word for how I feel about the whole project just now.

Various people are trying to source me the right bits to make it all right again, so I can only thank people for the fantstic support over the last few days. It's certainly helped keep me sane until I get home and can assess it all myself.

Looks like another sizable wad of cash will have to be chucked at it to make it right

Gah On the plus side the car looks genuinely fantastic, and it will be a dream to drive. From what you've said it's obviously over budget, but probably no more than the average driver loses every year in depreciation for the crappy boring cars they drive.

sheeeesh, i can imagine the kind of money thats already gone into this and then to hit this ....well id be feeling just like you are....gutted!!
It looked a complete dog when i saw it and you have transformed it, you have literally pulled it back from being not much more than scrap heap fodder and made it into the best looking zs bar none !!.
I can understand your frustration but could you really throw in the towel now after all you have done, guess you could maybe sell a share in the car to raise some easy wonga, i dunno.
All the best though with it.

Gutted for you mate, I wouldnt like to guess how much its cost so far. I know its not much help at the moment, but when you are finished, it will be probs the best zs around and something the rest of us could only dream of owning.
