Angry URGENT: headlamp fitting on mk2 ZS help needed

Hi Guys,

My car recently failed its mot as it has LHD headlights

I've searched the forums but I can't find anything on headlamp fitting.

I'm having mega problems getting the old headlamps out it's impossible! I've removed the front bumper which required removing the wheels!! I've unscrewed the 4 bolts fixing the headlamp in place but the bloody thing won't come out, I've been at it for hours

Does anybody know how to remove the headlamps from a mk2 ZS 180????

I really need to get this sorted asap as i use this car for my work, i'm so ****** off... i mean why make it sooooo hard to remove a headlamp!!!

I've uploaded some pics of my status so far: Gallery

ANY HELP WOULD BE REALLY APPRECIATED before I take a hammer to the thing lol

That's what i'd ask... Are they definately sure that they are LHD and it's just not the setting is out?

Other than that i can't comment as i've never even looked to see how you would even start taking a headlight out.

This link may be of some use... Looks to me like there are 4 bolts / screws holding it in place.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies. I don't have a clue why they are LHD! maybe MG had no money for RHD ones and thought we'll use up all these LHD ones... nobody will know until their 1st mot 3 years later lol

I've checked them against another mg zs i saw in an asda carpark and they def have a different patter on the silver reflective bit.

arwilson80 - like i said in my post i've removed the 4 bolts but they won't come out

All i want to do is change a headlamp... how can a company make it so difficult lol

There are 6 bolts to be removed after removing the bumper according to RAVE. Two bolts secure the bumper armature to the body, and 4 bolts securing the headlight. You then need to disconnect the multiplugs from the leveling motor and headlamp. The headlamp should then come out.

In the great Haynes tradition, refitting is a reverse of the removal procedure.

BTW torque is 4Nm for the headlamp bolts and 25Nm for the armature ones.
