Oil change

hey guys,
its that time of the year again, time for a service
I've been using halfords 5w 40 semi synthetic for the last 3 years, seems ok but she seems to be a bit noisy when cold.
Was thinking of going with a 10w 40 this time, can anyone recommend a half decent oil. Don't wanna pay a fortune but obviously don't want anything too cheap and nasty.
Also whats the best stuff for the gearbox and what is the capacity, not done that yet!
Cheers

The gearbox takes 2.2 litres, the recommended oil is MTF94 which you can get from Land Rover or Honda dealers, but the equivalent is a 75W/90 gear oil to GL4 spec.
