I was thinking the opposite, the mileage tends to be lower and the MOT longer.

As others have said, the ZT is a better built, newer design car. But the ZS is, by a decent margin, the better car to drive (with the exception of the 260, perhaps). ZT is a significantly bigger car, but despite that boot space and interior space isn't much better.

Or buy an MGB, we used to fit lots in them

i have a 1.8t-t and it has a good strong pull, good torque from very low down and being a 1.8 economy is good for the size of car, my advice is not to dismiss the 1.8t - certainly not until you've driven one.
boot on the estate is good although not tall, a spare wheel stood up and an inch to clear the headlining.

I did look at the ZT-T but wasn't big enough for my three dogs as it is quite shallow in the back but roomy for two small dogs. If I was getting one it would have been the diesel version.

They don't look to bad to be fair I can't comment on space or economy as I haven't sat in one let alone driven one but at the end of the day it's up to you I hope you get the answers your looking for
