Track Car...The Revival!

Just a quick not to confirm I have made a deal with Sam (ZS) to buy his engine and gearbox. Unless Sam posts it, I wont divulge the price as I know I got a great deal that could potentially damage other people sellings price.

Safe to say, I now have the new engine and gearbox, to be delivered some time in the near future! Yay!!

Now, here's where I may need some assistance. Ideally I would be looking for somewhere to deliver the engine that would be safe and also be able to have my car there as I plan to change the engine myself with the aid of some eager members.

Secondly, I will need an engine hoist to remove and refit the engines.

Also, I am not rolling about with loads of tools so I am hoping between us we have the right ones!

All in all, I am looking forward to progressing with the work, just another project on my list of things to do!!

Hopefully the costs wont get much higher once I have the new engine.

What other things will I need when changing the engine?

Oil, coolant....

All my tools will be made available mate,I would also offer the use of my lock up but unsure whether we would have enough room although the car could be rolled in and out if needed.there is also the issue of getting it down here,as for fluids and the like I would cross that bridge when we come to it as that kind of thing will be the very last thing to do.either way wherever you get to do it I will weigh in with as much labour as I possibly can.

Always appreciated mate. I ultimately need to decide where the location is going to be for the engine swap due to getting the engine delivered. Don't want it delivered here if it ends up having to be transported elsewhere!

I can try to arrange the car to be transported to wherever the location is if needed.

my new home has loads of room to store the car on a level surface and I could dry store the engine in my shed.

Well the offer of my garage is there and I have seen engines being swapped using them as my mate along the road has had his cossie engine in and out of his escort and his garage is the same size as mine, he doesn't have a hoist but uses a huge wooden beam.over the doors with a huge pulley and drops it in that way.

Ha! will be the first time Cumbernauld has been os some use to anyone..
However there is very little distance between Grimmys and mine.

yours is probably better as it has more space but if need must it can be moved to mine once all the heavy stuff is done and final tinkering and and the like can be done there getting it off your drive and not annoying your missus

Hopefully, after talking to Blair tonight we should have it stripped to the point that it will only be putting the new one in if that will help time wise as having you on hand would be very beneficial to us rank amateurs.
