It sounds like the clutch slave cylinder mounting bracket may be failing, if you've caught it early enough it'll just need a new bracket.

They are available off ebay for about a tenner.

It fits MG ZS's etc, advert just says LandRover & Freelander? Is it difficult to fit?

Yes,it fits the ZS, easy job, unclip the cylinder from the bracket, remove old bracket, fit new bracket, and refit cylinder, no bleeding required.

The pin between the master and pedal wares. 1/2mm of ware can give loads of travell before the clutch bites.

If you press the pedal you can see how much travell you loose before the master clevis starts to move. the clevis also wares oval increasing the problem.

I find drilling the the pedal and fork out to 3/8" and replacing the clevis pin with a 3/8" version removes the play and gives a larger ware surface for a more permanent repair!!
