Fresh Mesh

After seein others changing their untidy front mesh I felt it was time to do mine. I have only done the lower part to see if I like it, an. Do so grille will be getting done shortly.
Also swapped out the horns which seemed ok and the problem of only one working was traced to corroded wiring. All horny and loud now though
Also touched up any rust behind the bumper although the new mesh makes it harder to see through it so wasn't quite as necessary.

Am sure this is broadly the same as everyone else, Jst rip tied the old one on as a template and snipped away, the wee snips were better suited for angles etc.

Old one had a decent amount of corrosion and anymore painting would Jst look like what it is, paint on top of rust

An the finished result, more than happy with look of new mesh, think I preferably actually

Aye my previous two had gone that way pete, paint freshened it up ok but probably due to the location it didn't stay fresh looking for long.
Suppose quickest way would be to have a spare template mesh to cut the new stuff so when replacment time comes its bumper off, swap mesh and refit. Reckon most would have the job done in under an hour that way......if anyone wants my original mesh to do it this way it's yours for postage only

Looks very fresh. Out of interest I take it the mk2s suffered from MGR cost cutting in that the materials used were plated? The mk1s were stainless steel.

The top is just as easy but I think when they were putting the grill together they had a surplus of glue and screws so just used as much as they could of both!

I think so Mick, they're not stainless on the mk2, I'm wondering if sparaying them with Plasticote might be more durable.

Smile

Certainly a great improvement, bought some Yellow mesh, when I first had the car. Must find it and sort the front end of my one.

Looks good.
