Keeping the Pinto lump that it came with. Did consider k-series but wanted to keep the project cheap. The Pinto came with a 285 cam but needs new valves as the previous owner never timed it and smashed the lot so thee is some work to do on that.

I thought the Pinto was a clearance engine on the standard cam, but maybe not so on a 285.

It is as standard, which is why we were surprised to find all the valves smashed so then got to measuring the cam to find out it's a 285. Mind you it doesn't surprise me it wasn't timed properly, there were so many other things wrong with the car!
