XPG Update

Evening all,

Been a while since I've given an update on XPG. Working 6/7 day weeks for the last 6 months meant the car hasn't been getting the love she deserves. Certainly put paid to getting the car up to track standard! Anyway, after getting back from a tour of europe in the trusty MG3 (I had planned to take the ZS but the exhaust bracket broke a few days before) I had this weekend to clean her up on the outside at least.

She comes up quite nice after a couple of washes and a quick polish.
Even got the headlights to come up nice with autoglym polish as they had started to cloud over.

Plan is to take her up to Retro Lifestyle or a MG specialist more local to get her fully sorted. The bushes on the rear have perished and will certainlyneed doing before the next MOT.
Just to add, managed to get through the MOT, needed rear discs, pads, rear caliper, new fuel line as started to rust and a new horn.
Covered about 3000 miles since Feb and loving it. Just wish I could driver her more, although I do have a 5000 mile insurance limit

Still needs a few jobs doing but getting there slowly.

car looks good, I had my one on a 5,000 miles insurance deal, when I went to renew it I'd gone over by a 1000 or so.

I thought the worse, but in the end they said I couldn't have a new limited miles insurance would have to go to unlimited, but it was only £20 or so more!!! I am old, so don't know if that affects the price. Didnt think that was too bad.

That was Peter Best Insurance, have got the TF with them as well.

Slightly rocky start but all good now Feel bad for wanting to sell so soon after I bought her though, I was naive to think a 13 year old modified car would be hassle free 😂 And then to be told the head gasket had gone by a so called specialist....! Credit to previous owners though, she still looks like a new car.
Plan is to get the new bushes in as the rear can be quite loose at times, tracking, new front tyres and a full service. Bodywork can wait although it's very good, just a few places to touch up.
Quick question, I love the heated leather but they don't seem to hold you in the corners. Is there a product to make them more grippy or should I go full bucket seats or alcantara? I clean them with Power Maxed leather cleaner and dressing but even after buffing them dry, they're still quite slippy.

That was my worry, but I just use her for weekends. Don't think I'll hit the 5k though. Wouldn't want to put to many miles on, that's what the 3 and ZT are for.
Think I paid £200 through Pete Best with MGCC discount, thought that was quite good for a 32 year old.

Stephen will become famous soon enough
Just make sure the seats are not shiny. If theyr cleaned and treated right and have a Matt finish then they should hold you in

Put some velcro strips on the seats and the other side of the velcro on some special trousers - when you're not on the track and wearing normal trousers everything will slip around fine, but then when you want to go on a track, wear your specially adapted velcro trousers.

Good idea Dan 😆
Do like the idea of bucket seats but probably not for everyday use.

Glad to hear that you're in a much better place with the car after your rocky start

While I was dropping the tank I've realised that lots of my suspension parts need work on the rear as well - it's all starting to get a lot like effort these ZS's.... but I've decided it is worth it, just for the grin factor when it is time to press on a B-road or track etc
