To be totally honest I am not getting any resistance from the other half so that is not the issue, it's just guilt! I'll see how things go and maybe just keep it going until the tax runs out and decide then whether to tax it again or leave it until the good weather. Maybe I ought to up the mileage allowance and use it more often!

Either way it is not going anywhere as I have had it 5 years now with plenty more work to do on it as and when funds allow. Guess the sensible option would be for me to keep it road legal and track prepared as that is where it belongs and that is why I enjoy it.

How do you insure your cars?

We have all of ours on a multi car policy from Tradex called "HOMEFLEET". There is a basic charge for each driver and then a charge for each car, adding a car costs around £30. All drivers are main drivers building their own NCB so if one has a claim there is less of an impact on the overall cost.

Seeing as there are several drivers in your house I'm sure you could make quite a saving.

When you start the policy you can start with 1 vehicle and add others as they come up for renewal.

Currently we have the ZS, ZR, R100, Maestro T16 and the F all fully comp for under £800 for both of us. My 18yr old learner son is an extra £700 on the R100 but other companies wanted over £1k for him TPF&T so there is even a saving there.

1 word of warning though, they are not very responsive by email, I always ring them.

Why not.

Providing I'm fully insured, you know it'll get looked after

i would say that you should keep it road legal if that is where you enjoy driving it.

I keep contemplating taking mine off the road, as the tuning side has not exactly been 'smooth' so far. But, every single time i get it running right for a few weeks or a month, it puts such a massive grin on my face that i know i would miss not driving it day to day.

Although i have kinda thought about buying a ZT 260 for a 'sensible' tow car - get it supercharged and then have a heart attack every time i take it out and it drinks fuel like mine drinks coolant

that said, mine has done 11K miles since last MOT, so says a lot about the reliability of the L-series, that even with a HGF it can eat up the miles without any adverse issues!
