FTAO: Stamford (or anyone else who may be able to help)...

You mentioned a while ago that you did something on your brake discs... what exactly was it and what does it do? (I would search but i can't remember what it was called)

I have a rubbing sound from my rear passenger disc so i took the wheel, caliper & pads out last night. The rim that is left higher around the outside of the brake disc that isn't not generally used by the pads when breaking has started to rub... Hence the sound.

Any suggestions as to how i can stop it making annoying noises?

I've just put on new front disks because of the lip where the pads dont touch, our fitter said the old disks had plenty of life and put a grinder across them and took the lip off. Depending if your rears are within the wear limit I suppose you could do the same. Are your pads seated ok - not moved or breaking up.

Pads appear to be OK. They definately don't appear to be breaking up. It's only 1 pad that's causing it (inside passenger rear) so i don't see how it could've moved. I would've thought that if 1 pad moved the 2 would've as they are seated against the caliper...

This thread but I doubt if this will be of any use however.

The step of the disc can be dressed off as long as the disc thinkness is not below the recommended thickness allowed. I have done this many times myself. However from what shroonie said in another thread that one of the rear pads has an audiable indicator built into the pad when near to its replacement limit, it could be that as I the very same thing happening!

Definately not the wear indicator. That was the first thing i checked. I hope it's not the discs that need replacing.... they don't look that bad.

If your discs and pads do need replacing i have a set for sale for zs 180

P.s the rear pads are very bad for seizing/becoming stuck in the rear carriers
