Where to put the axel stands? (pic included)

Hi,

I'm just about to change the coolant and need to jack the front up, can anyone tell me exactly where i need to put the axel stands?

I aways get paranoid about the exact placement of them. Can someone tell me where to put them on this pic i just took.

Thanks

I tend to place them on the inner lower wishbone mounting position.

Thats where I put mine - I figure if it can take the stress through the suspension then a stationary lift should be fine

See attached, looks like where I place my stands upright. Picture looks weird, so hard to tell.

OK, on that cylindrical joint. I take it that due to the funny angle of the picture, theres another one of them next to it for the passenger side axel stand?

Always make sure that the metal will be strong enough to take the weight without bending or slipping off the stands.

Get the stands as near to the metal as poss. dont have a big gap between the top of the stands and where you want to locate on the car, thats assuming you are using a jack as well, without lowering it down just on stands.

Could always get car ramps and block the wheels.

Yea we've got car ramps but they're too steep and catch on the bumper.

Luckily my grandad popped round, and because he used to be a welder hes got a set of ramps he made himself 40 years ago! They heavy as hell but better than the sets you can buy these days! More importantly though the gradient is less steep so it doesnt catch on the bumper as i go up/down.

Still would like to know where to put the axel stands safely though, ill have another look under tomorrow to see where stamford means, failing that, i guess i could always jack the car up front the front jacking point and put the stands on the jacking points by the front sills.
