Jangling Noise?

I have a very quiet metallic jangling noise coming from under the gear stick area. It does seem to do it more over bumps etc, which is making me think it's something that is loose (or breaking up)
Do you think this could be the gear linkage thingy? (Sorry for terminology)
Or something more sinister?

Hows does your gearchange feel? Would have thought if it was the linkage it would be a bit sloppy. Best bet would be to get underneath and see what could be loose, would think it could be a heatshield myself

It was like it well before then mate, otherwise that would of been suspect No.1. It's difficult to explain the noise really, it's quite faint, like tiny springs being jangled around very gently.
