the replicas will be a fairly standard and fairly soft alloy, so it will bend like alloy does when you hit potholes.
The gen BMW are a composite alloy and are very brittle, so anything more than a pebble can crack them.
Our local BMW main dealer is always getting their wheels welded (as is a merc dealer also).
I have a set of 10yr old BMW replicas I need to weigh in (shame as they are a rare et20 offset), not one crack or weld, and also 1 gen BMW wheel of the same style that has been welded in 4 places..

Whilst many dislike the copies, at least they won't crack like a gen wheel, for 500quid, I would be tempted.

Gave my car a decent clean and polish today (first time ever since owning) took a few hours, I had originally cleaned the wheels yesterday so that was good

So
  • Wheels off, cleaned with Auto direct wheel cleaner (acid free) and bucket of Warm water with some Chemical guys citrus wash. Then went over wheels With Iron X. To finish I used Chemical Guys Hyper coat which provides a nice shine

For the Bodywork
  • Pre spray bottom halfs of doors using Megs All purpose cleaner
  • Pressure wash of as much dusts and dirt as possible
  • Clean using 2 bucket method, using lambswool mitt and Chemical guys citrus wash
  • Rinse with pressure washer
  • Wipe main bodywork panels down with squeegy blade
  • Spray body work with Megs last touch
  • Dry using two Sonus drying towels
  • Dry wheels using Megs last touch and Microfibre
  • Wipe insides of door shuts using auto direct jaffa clean on microfibre
  • Apply Chemical guys wet mirror finish all over
  • Wipe of with microfibre
  • Apply Dodo juice purple haze all over
  • Wipe of with microfibre
  • Clean glass with megs bubblegum glass cleaner
  • Apply rain x all round with 2 applications to windscreen
  • Wipe of with microfibre
  • Apply chemical guys hypercoat to wheels again
  • Apply Zanio Z-8 grand finale sealant all round

Interior
  • Wash rubber mats and finish with Chemical guys Hypercoat
  • Hoover all round
  • Apply Chemical guys natual look to dash, door panels and hard wearing leather areas as well as any trim you can see
  • Spray auto glym Autofresh to the floor

stand back and hope you never have to use it

Nice reflection shots!

Didn't think I'd be a fan of the tan leater but it's growing on me!

its awesome, I saw the pictures when the car was advertised and was like erm..... no.

But it was the only car in spec that seemed to work so I went to look at it, when you open the door its totally different than it looks imo. Has a real nice touch of class to it. I did not want back as everybody has black and I think it looks cheap. This is real nice. The wood has grown on me load too, infact I quite like it however I am having them changed out for gloss black soon

Very nice.

I put the Oak dash in mine replacing the brushed aluminium and though it looked far better.

I'd leave it there if I were you - but hey - each to their own.

Great job on the cleaning.

so a update

The car has to be said is a dream to drive. Its lightening quick the power is insane. If your cruising at say 70mph on the motorway and you floor it the torque is unreal once its selected its gear.

Traction is interesting in this weather but I have just purchased winter tyres to go on once my current ones are dead (within a few thousand miles)

10000 fault free miles so far and in that time I have averaged 40.2mpg, not bad for 350 ponys and 700 torques. I think it could be bettered too. One problem with these cars is a couple of seals on the intercooler pipework. Mine has had a seep since I bought it while I bought the seals I have not done it yet.

oh it also had a private plate go on it a few months ago
