VVC - variable valve control - a way of giving extra power - fitted on some 1800cc kseries engines (think VIS or VTec)
non VVC - the same as above but not fitted.

VVC is the variable valve timing thingy, Honda had it first I think, you have to rev the nuts off but it gives a lot more BHP.

Non VVC is just ordinary valve timing, so no additional gears etc to worry about.

Thats the technical bit, well, as much as I know, thats not a lot.

Talkingcars beat me to it!!!

VVC was only fitted to the ZR 160 and BRM I believe its was a k-series fit. The Kv6 has the Vis which is the same kinnda idea, different operation but the closest comparison on the 180

it basically opens the valves for a longer period of time and increaes the lead and lag to increse scavenging, at higher revs its harder to get approximatley half a litre of air into a cylinder, think 100 revs a second, so 50 times it has to fill the cylinder with air, 50 times it has to get rid of it all again, in a second, and thats just 6000revs, so if it can open the valves a bit longer it can fill it a bit better.

Typically less torque with more bhp at a higher RPM...

Honda were producing 1.6 vtec engines in the late 80's with 150bhp, but the vtec system is simpler and different than the VVC system used in the Rover K

This is how VTEC works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcT_ZyY3F0k
Very simple and effective in design!

My 2p worth!

Ithink we should get all the scotts together and get the guy up to do a group fitting! Might be well worth the money!
