Cutting a long story short, I have found someone who is willing to part with a PG1 gearbox fitted with steel caged bearings and the Quaife differential. Apparently it has been removed from a Lotus Exige and is a close ratio box. I enquired about the close-ratio's and how they would compare to a standard PG1 box and basically the fella got back to me and said that the ratios are the same, but 5th gear is slightly longer for more top end (doesn't really matter to me). Apparently the whole gearbox and bell-housing is a straight swap for the one bolted to the ZS 180.

Does this ring right with all of you gearbox experts as I'm blind when it comes to these!?

Here is a picture of the part in question...

*** Quick Edit - as quoted by the seller - "It's a straight swap all you need to change is the clutch fork arm and your speedo drive" ***

No good to you, the bell housing has the wrong bolt pattern for the kv6.

Did you get the link I messaged you ?

OK thanks for that, I can't tell how different the casings are as I've never seen one removed like that! Glad that's cleared that up. I've just got your link, thanks for that.

Does the 620 box have the same ratios as the PG1 in the ZS?

Yes it does, you just need to swap the clutch operating arm from your old PG1 to the new one

So am I right in saying a complete 620ti box will bolt straight to a kv6 and have the same ratios?

If so, fitting an lsd to the 180 is going to be easier than fitting the one to the diesel!

Awesome, guess that's something else to go on the shopping list. Probably wait until the clutch gives up first though.
