Were the senders for the gauges already in the car from the old stack dash?

no, well yes.

the guy who i bought it of left the sendors while taking the dash.

but the stack gauges were just to much to spend imo.

looking back i would of bought another stack dash to be honest or waited to buy dual gauges from spa.

anyway the sendors etc i used the ones with the guages to make sure the readings are correct etc.

Did you use a sandwich plate to put the oil pressure and temp senders in?

little update.

Turbo has been away for a few weeks with a well established specialist from another rover forum.

He could not get it to balance as well as he liked and the input shaft was on its limit 0.008gm usually he likes them at 0.001gm. Anyhow he claims it will be ok but i have opted for a new shaft to make sure its good as i really cant be bothered to faff about with it in a year. it will only get worse.

He mentioned how the turbo from BDM is not quite how it makes out to be, compressors not matched in size like they should be and generally he claimed the turbo isnt as good as others for the size of the bearings etc its being pushed fairly hard and for the track he would plonk a decent t28 on it with better housings and somthing or other.

its a lovely drive as it is so im reluctant would just rather stick with it for now.

got my new pads ordered at nearly £180 quid a set i hope they bed in well... lol

got my wheels in for refurb next week

all good fun

OMG, Daves old car lives on, great to see it in your hands Ross.
Just read through your thread, good to see you're addressing all the issues, will be worth the effort in the long run.
Shame about the turbo, sounds like Wilky has it?
Have to say it runs a lot of boost to reach it's power, maybe worth looking at other turbo's, loads of units to choose from these days, make the same power at lower boost levels, something like a GT3076 or the likes, would strongly suggest looking at the Precision units.
Really am pleased to see the car back in the fold, would be nice to know when you're planning to have a run at POD, something I always wanted to see?

Just in case you need to know how the Precision tubo's works, the guy in this video is running a Honda B16 (1600cc) making approx 600bhp on a Precision 6262, doesn't lag and he was running 1.5 bar (21psi) in this video

Turbo sizing to volumetric efficiency, don’t get to hung up on turbo’s just for Rovers or VAG’s there are other options a good prices.

Hi Ed, yeah Wilky has the turbo although its done now.

I am in two minds as to what to do with it, i need to spend some time researching what fits etc.

I am happy with the performance as is, this turbo has had a very hard life so cant blame it and £300 odd quid for a rebuild inc new shafts and whatever isnt to terrible.

anyway nice to hear from you on here

pod is somtime in feb depending on my dad who has throat cancer at the mo so supporting the old dear

cheers
Ross

surprised to hear the turbo wasn't quite up to scratch spec wise !
i wonder what kind of life it had when i sold it, it was running 1.4 bar which isnt mega high tbh, bdm told me it would run 1.6 bar all day no probs.
I wonder if the last owner raised the boost as he said it was running crazy power didnt he, power that turbo couldn't physically make.
Sounds like re-build cost wasn't too bad anyway, and you'll be able to check the boost on your gauge soon so you will know either way.
i certainly used it hard on track but i always treated the engine and turbo like you should, warm up, cool down etc.
My car runs a k04 which when hybrided with the k06 compressor wheel ( which is same as yours iirc, could be wrong ), makes 330 plus no probs with the correct supporting mods, so personally i dont think its running right at the limit, no doubt its not got an easy life and bigger is better an all that though.
