You'll be hit on insurance with a BRM. Your best bet is a 1.4, 1.6 or 1.8 rover 25.
My mate pays less for his BRM than he did for his Rover 200Vi... I don't think the BRM is as expensive to insure as people think - maybe worth getting some quotes if you are thinking about a BRM.

I pay about 200 less on the 180 then I did on my old BRM. I guess it's just down to location/who you are/and what you do
