My 180 - The repair!

Right,

The following needs doing:

Gotta be jigged as the front chassis rails have been pulled down - this will be relatively cheap (lots of family in the motor trade you see )

Going to replace the following:

Both rads
New Bonnett as due to the chassis being bent the old one is twisted and fubarred
back beam for the steering rack + steering rack
lower arms for both sides
nearside shock absorber + y section attached to it
both headlights
front bumper + splitter
nearside wing is twisted
upper mount for the gearbox is broken
the gearbox
nearside drive shaft
drivers side engine mount

and.....*drum roll*....a leaking water pipe!!!

Depending on cost of the jigging I'm looking at around £1200 to fix it + X amount of spanner hours and swearing with my mate

I thought it was going to be A LOT worse to be fair - I'll get a confirmed price for parts tonight, and if I'm gonna go ahead with it I'll strip the front end on Saturday and take it for jigging on Monday.

During it pictures will be taken and I'll keep this thread as the main thread as progress is made to it!

Stay tuned

EDIT: Just had a confirmed price of £650 for the parts thought it was gonna be SO much more than that kinda happy now!

Not so bad in the end then! Shouldnt take your bro too long to pay that back

This should be an interesting thread. Any pics of how the car is now, before any work?

That's good news, if you can call it that. Make sure you have some 'before' pictures so we can see how bad it looks. Not a good way to start ownership, but you'll be an expert before long.

I'll take some before I start - If I go ahead with this (need to chat with Dad etc) I'll take some before we start stripping it to be jigged and do keep it a running thread as it were

Indeed, very tempted to fit the BMC CDA whilst I have the front end off! but we'll see, probably not...

Sounds like it should be a viable option.

As I said last night mate, if you need a hand at weekends after this weekend, I can arrange to be there.

Good luck with it - perhaps another idea would be to get your brother involved in the repair as well. Then he will truly see the extent of the damage he has caused and when it is complete he will feel he will have achieved something and will have much more respect for you and your car.

I thought of that, but I really think he will get in the way to be honest.

I'm not being harsh, but he wasn't involved in cars like me, only bikes...if he wants to help then sure but I won't force him. The crash scared the **** out of him and I gave him a slap and he's (literally) paying for it. I think he'll think twice next time.
