Exhaust cam trial is a go ahead!

Getting another engine tomorrow and will be porting and servicing it ect in the next couple of weeks. Cambelt waterpump thermostat ect.

Anyhow I will be removing the exhaust cams from my current engine to fit in place of the inlet cams on my new engine.

I'll let you know how I get on!

Got the engine out today and removed a few things!
Removing and bypassing the aircon pump will be easy as long as I get the correct length belt.
Also the oil cooler on it seems okay so will do for now.
I will get it cleaned up and ported next week. Those exhaust manifolds need sorting out too they are such a poor quality part!! Ill have a spare engine sat to mock some up on so alls well there too. Watch that space!

Well the day has been spent grinding the welds out the inside of the manifold flanges. Done 3 on 1 side, Opened up from a ridged 32mm to a 40mm open with a contour to the head.
Ported all exhaust ports opened out from 32mm to 39mm with the contour meeting up to the exhaust mani perfectly. Have cut the 180 degree bend and collector pipe/precat out and will be making an unequal length mani, need to do maths to get it right but I know it will be better than that standard collector/precat!

Inlets to port tomorrow and some more work on manifold and maniwelds *3 more to go*

Cams are in the process of coming out too, Hope I can get the inlet pulleys fitted to the exhaust cams, looks like it will work!

I will somehow attach some photos in the next few days, Going to need telling how to do it mind.

Anyway alls going well, Shall keep you posted!

do you know why the exhaust ports on the head are smaller than the bore of the exhaust as it meets the head?

I guess it's an easy way to ensure that the exhaust gases flow from the head easily.

Yeah, thats why ive taken exhaust port to 39mm an exhaust maniflange to 40mm with an nice smooth contour so it flows out nicely.

I have not gone into the head, mearly opened out the end of it so its better than the standard cast item with a lip running around it.
