Laws on Harness'

Looking to fit some buckets and get some 3 point harness'. Remember reading somewhere that their legality depends on the type of buckle. Is this right and if so whats allowed?

They should be E marked for road use

Cheers shronnie, so they dont need to be the push buckle like oem seats as long as they are E marked.

I think you'll find that all the ones marked for road use have the standard clip type buckle

Most road going spec ones are buckle type, no point in having the aircraft style 6 point with crotch strap unless you like that sort of thing

My 3 point Sabelt is adequate, a 4 point is no better in our type of car as the rear two straps should overlap anyway and the chassis mounts are probably not suitable for 4 point. 4 points are better if using a cage with a harness bar.

Yer seen some Sabelt 3 point harnesses but they are the rotational release, they are FIA approved but guessing they are not 'E' marked.

Found this, could prove useful if the quotes could be confirmed by someone who has access to the quoted sections.

Cheers Mick very useful. I reckon I will leave in the standard belts firstly for the gf as she's not too keen on them, and secondly for MOT. The harnesses are the clip on ones so could be removed quickly

I've left my front ones in for now. Not intended just not got around to removing them yet.
