well luckily I've been pulling my dad's bikes about for a few years too. Most of that was with a 90 Defender right enough so about 50/50... but I've been using the 110 Defender recently and reversing that is no harder than any other time.

I think all my years of R/C car racing has given me the skills to move trailers about without having to think what way the wheel has to turn, because you constantly have to do that when you're racing. One second the car is going away from you, then it's coming back at you and all the steering is in reverse, then it's running parallel and you've no idea how much space you have either side of the car. You need to be able to do all that without thinking or you would just crash

C+E = LGV & Trailer
B+E = Car and Trailer

Your licence card should show on the back any provisional entitlements you have.

I can reverse a 66ft wagon and drag no problem, stick a 6x4 camping trailer on the back of my range rover and I was stuffed!

Would have thought your full licence allowed you this to learn and then upgrade when passed? Good job I am old as was included back in the day!

I've been towing for years, box trailers, car transporters, caravans etc. Yes the shorter the unit the harder it is to control when reversing, my box trailer was quicker to unhitch then push back!

Used to drive a Transit and Ifor Williams trailer with ride on mowers, could never, ever, back it up, Knew all the rules, opposite lock to where you want to end up.

Drive forward to straighten it all up, gently back and the trailer would always end jack knifed into the rear of the transit.

I'm not proud and asked a guy to back it up in our plant yard, he jumped in, un jack knifed it and slotted it in.

He said he used to be in the Army and drove the tank transporters about.
