Oh No HOT Alloy!?

I have a hot alloy driving just 1.2 miles. Does this mean a dreaded caliper fault?

I bought the car 3 weeks ago, and the car could've been sitting a while before i bought it.

Its the drivers rear.

Sounds like it,most probably sticking slider pins have a good old nose about the site loads ofinfo about them on here

luckily am off on holiday untill thursday so, i can try an get them fixed tomorrow. Hope it isnt to dear, saw calipers online for 50?

I think cause the cars been sitting they may just need stripped down and losened off.

yep best to try and get them sorted before you buy new if you can, take it of the car and blast it it wd40 and leave it to soak for a few hours before trying to loosen them off

Cars in the garage today, hopefully they can clean it and get it working for tomorrow. It happened after power washing it last night?

All my tools are at my work, so I did not attempt myself. Falkirk college does a night course for around 6 weeks that covers brakes, exhausts etc. I think its labbled as a pre mot course, Am sure its around £120. My mates been on it, certainly would like to try it myself before tackling my own brakes.

I had this issue with the rear calipers on the track car. They were reaaally jammed. It took a lot of brute force and a big hammer to fix it, but was cheaper than buying replacements and now work perfectly. Gonna strip them down again though and hopefully keep them maintained.

I've had it on various motors, when my Prelude packed in, I bought on Escort estate of ma mates dad. It been lying around for months, it was only £300, I thought the brakes were knackered, but the garage stripped them al down and got them moving and they were great after that, most of the parts were quite new.

I think a regular strip down would prevent such problems.
