cambelt change kv6

Im looking at a zs with 35k miles its a mk2 but hasnt had its belts changed. Can anyone reccomend anywhere and let me no of the round about cost

Also I have come to the conclusion im going to probably end up breaking my mk1 180 for parts to keep for the future and sell some parts. Im aware its a horrble thing to think of doing but I cant even get 850 for it and id rather keep things like the inlet, vis and clutch system and just sell other things like dual exhaust and panels and I might make a table from the engine block

Ive had 3 people come and view the car the best one was the first guy 3 weeks back offered me 250 as he reckoned that my head gasket had gone. ..... It hasnt he was so aragont and abnoxious it was ridiculous

£250 lol thats a joke, couldnt get a 20 year old fiesta for that!!! Some people make me want to punch them very hard in the head!!
G or "roverparts" on here seems very well priced and deffinately knows what he's doing, or the mobile guy, both good options! I wouldnt trust anyone else to be honest.

I would have punched him in the head!! Lol
He was trying to scare you into selling at a silly price!! But I'm sure most people know oil gets darker as it fills with carbon from the normal process of combustion. As mentioned above you couldn't buy anything with an Mot for £250!!

MG6Turbo is on a distinguished road
Personally I wouldn't want a mobile service doing a KV6 belt change.

The reason being is that I've had incidents where you need a proper workshop to overcome problems. There's only so much you can carry in a van. Plus there's the good British weather.

I've done a couple at home without the tools as I simply marked up the pulleys myself !! It's pretty easy if you are methodical about it but you can encounter bolts that won't come out and other annoyances but that's just cars. The 180 is probably the easiest KV6 to do as access is better than the ZT and Freelander with less bits to remove too!!

How about take your chances and don't bother.

Seriously .... We all go on about the belts - but how many Mk1s are out there having done the 90K and being 11 - 12 years old and are still going strong.... Loads of them .... If you need the peace of mind - fair enough.

You can get an engine for £350.... with the rest of the car for another £150 thrown in !!!!
