MG ZS Facelift 2.0 TD project log

So here is my MG ZS facelift 2.0 TD when i bought it, it looked like this...

I then had a few plans, i had a powerflow back box fitted, de-cat pipe fitted, and an egr blanking kit fitted. I also had the wheels sprayed gunmetal grey, and fitted a 8k hid bulb kit.

Unfortunately then i had a crash, the car spun out on me in the wet

so for now ive fitted new lights and bodged the bumpers so im atleast road legal! but plans are:

- get it fully repaired, new bumpers all resprayed and sort the rear quarter out.
- coilovers have been purchased and will be fitted after the car is fully fixed
- rover sdi injectors
- i may look at a re-map, but i have heard if i do this (with all the other tuning done) it may go through a clutch every month! which i dont think i could be bothered with really!

Sorry to see the damage, lucky that it all looks do-able, dont think you have to worry too much about the clutch.

I've a Mk2 derv, I'm on 77,000 odd, incl 3 novice days at Brands and a few runs at Santa Pod, plus some quick get aways in first, all with what you want to do. The clutch still feels OK after 2 1/2 years of giving it some stick!!! No SDi injectors though.

I am glad i have got a 21" screen, but many are not so fortunate, so if you coudl re-size those larger pics it may be appreciated

That said it is looking tidy, it is a pity that you damaged her (sorry all cars are female to me)

If you get the SDi's fitted and get it remapped and limit it to 250lbsft you should not see any clutch slip as the OE MGR unit can that that abuse day in day out. would give you around 150bhp top end to go with it.

yeah, anything over 150 is new clutch, lsd (preferable) uprated gearbox, new turbos - i would not recommend a hybrid unit until a few issues are worked out atm, possible head studs - pending turbo choice, FMIC etc....

if you go to one of Reidy remaps agents, they will have plenty at the 150bhp mark to try oin the car, or if you are close to yeovil, pop to performance3000 and see matt himself for a dyno session for a 'proper' remap
