About time, cars have moved on such a lot, I can go back 40 odd years, but even the last 10 years safety gissmos have got better and better.

Think they ought to look at LHD lorries, think they are more of a menace than a bit of speed.

So, 80mph is now a safe speed to drive at presumably? What we've been told up to now is that it was dangerous, wreckless and worthy of a fine and penalty points.

I always go by the 10% +2 rule. Maybe why Ive got so many points.
Although 90-95 often seems to be the average speed of BMWs, Audis in the right hand lane anyway.

yep, it did surprise how low the speed limit was when i was driving in UK. Also shocking was the total disregard for it too, by about 50% of drivers!

It will generate a lot of tax revenue from increased fuel consumption. Can't help thinking that's the real "significant economic benefit"

That's exactly what I was going to say.

Meh, at least now I'll only be breaking the limit by an average of 70mph...
