Got my first trackday tomorrow in the ZS at the Silverstone GP circuit.
Really excited and nervous at the same time!

Cars been stripped out and feels pretty nippy with the new induction!

Ive done some experience days at Rockingham before in a Cooper S and Elise, but using my ZS should make it quite different!

Oh have fun, yes I know that nervous feeling.

Just get a very good night sleep, get there early and eat well. Its actually a rather exhausting day.

Enjoy yourself, just take it easy for the first few laps before going gung ho! It pays to warm the tyres and brakes up for a couple of laps, also make sure the fluids are tip top. If it's an all day affair come off regularly to allow the brakes to cool down, check tyres and fluid levels. You'll be surprised how quickly the brakes can fade when used heavily.

Drive within your comfort as you'll need to get home ;)

Would love to do a track day in the zed, got a driving experience booked up this year driving an evo and ferrari.

don't think I would have the bottle to take me own car on a track...lol

I want to do one of these... ZS or maybe something else. They are all on the mainland though and to go just for that makes it very expensive.

I suspect you will pass out now. The day is not physically hard, but mentally exhausting.

How did the car hold up? Did you check it over and how are the tires?

Yeah, im slowly falling asleep!

Car was ace! Contrary to popular belief, my Nangkang tyres were immense, gripping strongly to maggots corner at 80mph! Could only make 105 on hangar straight as the wind was battering the car from all directions.

The rain made the car a bit skittish on the last session though......
Overtook an S2000 :alien: a bit quickly and hit the rumble strip a bit too hard, spinning the car a full 360 degrees at 70mph! Wont forget that in a hurry!

Glad you enjoyed it Mattie i did my first one at Oulton last month and its true about the nerves going at the first corner. I have Nangkang on the rear of mine and they are not that bad are they.

Mallory Park or Donington next. I thought the 120 would lack pace on a track, but it was well up to the challenge, just lacked a bit of top end power down hangar straight, the only place the 180's beat me :ninja:

Nice pics fella. Glad you enjoyed it. The incident last year was a bit too fast into paddock hill bend and the back end coming round on me down the hill. Quite funny really although Mick didn't think so.

After a couple of Track Taster Days at Brands, it would be interesting to try another track and see if ZS's could fill all the places. At £25 a time plus the cost of getting to the track its not a lot of money for a great day out.:wave::wave:

About twenty I would think from the numbers that go out, Stamford has the MSV guys email who could confirm, dates, venues, etc.

Would make an interesting meet up in the summer.:group:

I'll check with ClubMSV first as they are not planning on many more of these sessions and considering them to be novice only.

:console: okay perhaps we can make it MG then ;)

Hmmmmm.....suppose ZT is pretty close to ZS, we could overlook it as a typo lol :mml:

Some of us have done a few before, so some are somewhat experienced and some are intermediate, so it can be hard to justify to the organisers that we are all 'novices' if we turn up with bucket seats, harnesses, own helmets and running NOS

On a serious note, we are not what I would call door banging competitve, we just enjoy the track time and treat it as a spirited drive :D

I'm no expert, I just enjoy the thrill of the ride, it's the only time I can drive fast with my eyes shut :cool1:

great pics mattie, looks like it was a fantastic day :-D

who organised the day and how much did it cost (if you don't mind me asking)

Its organised by www.mgs-on-track.com and cost £150 for 7 x 20 minute sessions. Just over £21 a session on one of the most famous circuits in the world!

Good shots mate!

The MGB is worrying as both driver and passenger are both wearing open face crash helmets, I thought it was full face only regulation on soft tops?

mattie007
27-03-09, 11:12 PM
Mmmm, well knowone was checking. It was the responsibilty of the driver I guess!

stamford
28-03-09, 07:45 AM
Club MSV state full face for soft tops and quote the codes required for the helmets. From what I gather MGoT have documentation from each circuit management team on what regulations they must follow during that season, it's part of the contract. Maybe some circuits are still running to old regs and have not come into play yet. I know there are changes afoot for the 2010 season.

I see what you mean though, alot more dangerous, especially with debris flying everywhere!
