cheers!

A bit of an update after 2 weeks of ownership, 38 hours without sleep and a 19 hour round trip to go get it...

Thought I would tidy up the front a bit as it was very faded and I had a set of brand new surrounds sitting in the garage

but discovered a slight... "issue" with the headlights

the plastic trim was all that was holding in both headlights... certainly explains why the beam pattern was so terrible on the trip back North in the dark

easy fixed though

then Susan bought me a nice new head unit - a funky CD-less unit that sucks in your Ipod!

fixed a few other little issues and added my own touches

then added some custom stickers that a friend made up for me

then some drastic surgery to fix the dodgy spot light wiring

oh and I got my new private plate fitted too. Technically I bought the plate before I bought the Defender. A bit of a risk as this is about the only 51 plate TR on the owners club!

Lucky the lights hung on in there, reminded me a bit of my old MGB.

Does look good, can see the attraction, great number plate as well.

I've allways wanted a WildCat -

But that Tomb Raider version I like, never seen one before (and certainly makes my Series 2a look in very bad shape! lol)

yeah I know what you mean. I think i had decided I was having it even if it was a minger. I actually paid for it in full before I had even seen it. I've been keeping an eye on selling sites since buying it and there are only 2 others for sale in the whole of the UK. One is a bit tired looking for more money and the other is nearly £5k more than I got this one for!!

Lara isn't quite a minger, but it does need a fair bit of work. That's more to do with me wanting it perfect (I know, I'll never learn!). Luckily with this one it's all cosmetic stuff. The mechanicals are solid - and it doesn't have a single oil leak! That must be a Landrover first! (usually if there's no oil under it, then there's no oil in it!)

I'm going to get the same bodyshop that does all my painting to have a look at it in the spring to see what can be done to bring it back up to new conditions.

It has a load of dents on the doors - from the previous owner pushing them to get them to shut. 5 mins of adjustment and I had them working fine so there you go.

It has a few corrosion spots that need looked at and the alloys are in a terrible state.

Time will tell if it needs a full strip down... I'm hoping it wont. if it does then the full cage will be coming off and getting powdercoated

Sounds like you want to do a full body off strip down!!!

Just trying to convince yourself.

Will make a great tow car for the BTCC EX259

Think your Santa came early, love the cars you are looking after.
