Get the owner to sign up over here if he isn't already.
Would be good to have someone of that ilk around, especially if they are keen on the car to such an extent that that they put their hard earned into it. Be interesting to read about what they do to source, and then put the new engine in.
(And because I REALLY like that car) .....

Blimey I wonder if there were any signs of this happening, or if it just let go all of a sudden?
The pre-warning for me was finding metal in the drained oil, and a cold start knocking! My engine is still on a stand waiting to be stripped, and then it will become an outdoor "decorative feature"!

Apparently it did have a knock, so any v6 owners whose engine develops a knock from the cam belt end of the engine, act quickly.
97,000 miles on it, but the oil was black and well beaten up when he got it, and 700 miles later this happened.
There seems to be a link between this happening and recent oil changes.

There's a relationship between oil changes on the ZT190 and bearing failure - the cause is thought to be the few seconds the engine runs 'dry' due to the oil cooler piping.
What I'd recommend is pulling the fuel pump relay after an oil change and spinning the engine over on the starter for 30 seconds to pump the new stuff around.

As said, pull out the free pump relay and prime the filter and you'll be fine. To be honest I thought that this was common practice anyway?

I'm wondering how long the oil pressure takes to build up if you install the filter dry, and don't put the oil light out on the starter.

In 2003 I was driving a ZS 180 I had borrowed.
I was racing some motorbike up a A road, there was a roundabout, we both went around the roundabout and BOOOOM
51 plate ZS180 bottom end smashed through.
Back then the oil pick up used to become lose, however it was not.
Unexplaned, perhaps the oil picked up around the roundabout, it shouldnt have...
The cars back then were so new, i did not know what was going to happen, lucky mg warranted it.
