Fair play, good to push them hard sometimes as mine seems to enjoy it. What I meant was that unless the same person drives both cars in the exact same hard manor its hard to tell as being a passenger is slightly misleading on overall performance figures.

I still think the 180 gives a slightly better overall performance package as your not limited to the lower rev ranges but I haven't been in some if the more highly tuned zeds that are on here so I may be wrong.

You're more than welcome to pop over to one of our meets in Peterborough, and i can show you how my derv performs

Next meet is on the 18th August BTW.

Cheers
Dave

Ive owned both so can give a pretty fair comparison. A well looked after MK2 180 with decat and cat back exhaust- kept for 6 months.
Also had a tuned diesel- still got it 3 years later

Would I go back to the v6... no.

Does sound good though

Just so happens I'm in peterborough on the 17th for a flight experience.
Wanna change the day so I can come? lol
You can all admire my car and marvel at my (very) northern accent.

May well take you up on that Dave but it may have to be another meet as for some reason the 18th is ringing bells with me.??
Be a decent trip out for sure as it says roughly 105 miles give or take so just under 2 hrs if clear.
Will see if I can get along to one of the meets up your way as be good to meet some other zedders from further afield

We're almost of an opposite there then. I've had my 180 over 3 years but the tuned derv only lasted 9 months before I needed to put the zs back on the road.
Granted mine wasn't a zs it was an old 200 but was at a decent state of tune and did sound good for a derv.

What I'm really longing for now though is a turbo'd car of the petrol variety that's suitable for the family. Miss the boosting days now

Any turbo charged car will have a completely different feel to it be it petrol or diesel.

This^^^^
The turbo diesel engine feels stronger when on boost but only because off boost they are flat. The v6 has power right through the rev range so it gives a constant increase in speed without the punch felt when the turbo spools up.
Having had to let go of my 180 and use my sensible car, well Freelander all the time I chose sell the L series powered version I had and got the V6 version instead (same engine as the 180) simply because the engine is so flexible. You can tune the turbo diesel to give good torque but with a 1500 rpm rev range they simply aren't flexible enough for me. The V6 sounds miles better too!

On the flip side... i prefer the turbo (petrol) power delivery to that of a large V6... mainly because am a bit of a child lol, i had a golf Vr6, and yeah, same power and epic noise (that you dont tire of) but i did miss the boost kick of a turbo, hence my ZS sporting a T series turbo lump.
