fitting of HID kits

hi, when fitting a HID kit has anyone had the problem of the metal shield melting??

if so could i cut it off and remove it?

there was someone who posted up some discolouration of the shield, but he had his lights on constantly for a good few years

I think you need it for the beam pattern, so wouldn't go chopping it out
