Project Copperleaf!

Well I thought I'd get a thread going on the car now I'm back online at home!

When I picked it up:

No miles:

Having cleaned it:

ZS grille freshly painted and reassembled:

The grille was a nightmare since the paint previously used (silver) must've been cellulose, it didn't like the acrylic! After a good rub back I found Trophy blue beneath that which I gave a couple coats of high build primer too, then normal primer, paint and lacquer. Be interesting to see how well it matches the colour. I've not attached the badge to the grille yet in case I'm not happy with the match...

Ah great, thanks mate!

I've got a set of 17" straights to go on, and a set of hatch seats to collect, as well as ZS dash trim and an MG wheel and airbag. I've got all the MG badging too to go on...

The most important thing is to get the correct ZS handling set-up, in terms of springs, anti-rollbar etc etc... It'll all come in time!

Will you not need to change the bushes, I thought I'd read the Zed used different/harder bushes than the 45? Could be wrong though!

Looks a different car already, sounds like a good project, least you got a full tank when you picked her up.

I wouldnt be surprised, I am going to get a detailed list of the differences. As for swapping the K4 for a V6, nice idea but way beyond my budget or plans. With just 19k on the 1.8 I am happy to stick with it. A full tank was a welcome bonus, I must admit!

looking good there, that colour is lovely and a bit of a shame they only did it monogram for the MK1's or part of the MK2 range....

looks like it is going to keep you busy for a while

It's a great colour, plus there's loads of little things missing from the ZS, like ignition key illumination and the same for the cigaretter lighter.

Should keep me quiet for a little while, I've missed the sound of a K4...
