MG ZS 180 Fixer / Project For sale

Here is my 2003 MG ZS 180 Saloon for sale

The bad bits

It’s currently got not tax and no MOT. It also has a flat battery. It is declared SORN. It has no history of belt changes.

Everything else

The reason that it has no MOT, is that when it was due in the back end of 2011, I didn’t have any cash to put it through the test, and I knew it would fail due to the brakes - the ABS ring had split on the drivers side and was engaging ABS intermittently at low speed.

So we found that the missus was pregnant recently, and decided it was time to get the car back on the road.

It had a new battery fitted 3 months ago and it fired up first time. I took it down the road, and it drove perfectly (just as it had before the MOT ran out) and didn’t complain once. I put a tenner of fresh petrol in the tank, and it liked that even more, and pulled well in every gear. So I hit eBay and bought a full set of mintex pads and discs, two new CV joints (cheaper and easier than fannying around with ABS rings), it has a VIS indicator kit that isn’t fitted, and also has the Sheddist clutch kit in that isn’t fitted. It also has an aluminium catch tank, that isn’t fitted. I completely intended to do all the work myself, and then realised that I have no idea what I’m doing. So she’s sat there for 3 months, and the new battery has since gone flat. Gutted.

I now have a car that has all the bits to get it through it’s MOT but can’t afford to pay a mechanic to get it done (because we’re saving every penny we can for the baby). It has also been decided that after all that, it’s not practical for us to keep it with already having a dog and a child on the way - a V6 saloon doesn't match that criteria very well.

The body is mark free. No bumps, no rust, no dents, no scratches (other than the swirlies from me now knowing how to wax a car properly).

It’s got 68,000 miles on the clock, and has turned approximately 10 miles in the last year and a half. It’s done very little mileage. Just before it’s tax ran out, it did over 1,200 miles to cornwall and back in a week, and had nothing to complain about.

The interior is clean, the seats have no tears or pulls - the drivers seat has a little bit of wear. It’s not damp, mouldy or smelly. The boot lining is transient but is all in one piece (as per usual on pretty much all Mk.1s). It has a space saver spare.

I’ll throw in the Haynes Manual too :P

The money

The discs and pads cost me £130. New and still boxed.
The CV joints cost me £50. New and still boxed.
The Sheddist kit cost me £120 (ish!). New and still boxed.
The VIS indicator kit was £20 (?). New and still … jiffy bagged!
The aluminium catch tank was £30. New and still boxed.

I don't want a lot for it, I would like to cover the cost of the parts (that are basically 2 months old) and a little bit for the car. Open to sensible offers.

Sounds like you should organise a "do stuff" meet and get this car back on the road mate

Also, with regards to the PMs - sorry chaps, I'm not willing to split the items out.
