ECU/BCU/ignition barrel swap on mk2 zs 180... issues?

If you remove the ecu/bcu/ignition barrel from a mk2 zs 180 and swap it into another mk2 zs 180, is there any issues with alarm/immobiliser etc?

Or will the swap be flawless?

And would you need to resync fobs with car?

It'll be flawless, but make sure the battery is disconnected before you remove it, and like wise on the car it's going in to, you don't need the ignition barrel, it isn't coded to anything

You would also need the door lock too.

As Matt says you'd need the door lock or else you would have 2 different keys for door and ignition.
The ignition barrel has those security bolts where the hex head shears off, I found the easiest way to get them out was to use a punch on the edge to loosen them and then they wound out just using fingers, I also dropped the column to give better access

what about the glove box lock, would one also need to change this if they wanted to only have a single key?

Yeah you would, I'd completely forgotten about that, although you can swap just the lock and keep the original glove box lid, especially if you have a flocked one

The hex head will have sheared off when the ignition barrel was originally fitted, so you are faced with a round head and no means of turning it, so I used a centre punch and hammer on the very edge of the head to make it turn, they actually came out really easily, I was expecting them to be a git to remove.
