Are they aftermarket sensors or the oe ones.

The control box and horn are behind the l/h side trim in the boot.

............and also the clutch needs to be fully pressed down to the carpet ..

Reading a couple of month ago I thought the clutch pedal was high on these ?

The rest point is higher than most cars. Biting on the floor suggests that the actuator arm is stiff.

andys1981

the clutch has to be pressed into the floor on my zs aswell done this since ive owned it,was under the impression that air could be in the system aswell, although this is the 1st zs ive had the slave go in

Jason04r
09-02-14, 05:01 PM
I did change both the slave cylinder and bracket .

Don't fancy taking the gearbox off to grease the arm .. just got it all together haha.

I would say it may loosen with use.let's face it the car has sat for a hell of a long time.

Which bit ?, the piece that slides in and out.

Dan1971

If it's the sliding part - I've got one in the shed that I'll just chuck in with the vents ..... IF ..... the lights ever turn up that is ..... ;)

Need some help regarding wheel arch screws etc...

Been on rimmers:
http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID003389

According them i need 12x part no: CYC100250 but i cannot see the p/n for the plastic screw which goes into the grommet

Help

petet16
12-02-14, 02:05 PM
That's odd, the screw and grommet should come as a pair, it might be worth confirming that with Rimmers though.

Well fitted the exhaust today and its too short , must be a mk1 version. I'll see if its okay at the MOT center.

Another thing is the reverse parking sensors kinda work when they feel , If i put it in reverse with the engine off away from anything i get a long beep but if my friend moves his hands in front of the sensors it will not beep. I can hear the sensors clicking ( All do it ) , could the fact that the guy sprayed them affect there workings? There standard rover sensors not a aftermarket.

stamford
16-02-14, 07:39 AM
Is the wiring correct? Sounds like it is reversed if a long beep when on and nothing with a hand in front.

Maxfly
16-02-14, 08:12 AM
I think either that's is indicTing a fault or you are putting it into test mode!?! I mind reading something about testing if the sensors were working by listening for the clicks. They are the same as BMW sensors, worth searching for those symptoms on bimmers through goggle too.

Did a couple of small jobs today . I've noticed that the washer bottle hose rubs on the driveshaft but I don't know where the correct location should be.

Messing around with the speakers seems the guy had amps and a sub , is there a speaker diagram on here?

petet16
16-02-14, 08:34 PM
iirc the washer hose comes up from the pump and through the same hole as the filler tube, then along the top of the chassis rail

What would be the reason for my passenger side window slipping out the rubbers when winding them up ?

If i push the glass then it moves and i can hold it in the correct place until its closed

petet16
19-02-14, 04:03 PM
Possibly the mechanism has come loose from the door, but more likely that the rubber channels that the window slides in need lubing with some silicone type grease.

In my experience the mechanism comes loose as it fights the unlubed channels, pop the door card off and check the 3 bolts that hold it in place.

Its currently running under the drive shaft , wouldn't know the correct place it should run

Yea same place , its not the top connectors ..

I goes into left hand side of the bumper and comes back round on itself :

http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/ItemImages/Large/GRID003698.gif

The tube where NO 8 is is where it comes from the then connects to the steering rack..

If i can i'll get a picture if it stays light long enough when i arrive home.

I got 20/22 but they hit the window seal and if I switch them around it also hits the plastic on the other side when on full wiper setting.

Sure yours are 20/22 :p

Essentially the pipes are clipped to the chassis leg where the run towards the rear of the engine bay, they should be above the drive shaft 100%.

Quick one about the SRS connectors .. Should i disconnect them and spray some WD40 or just unplug and plug them back...

Got a feeling its going to come on when i got for the MOT

petet16
03-03-14, 11:54 AM
I would just unplug, and plug them a few times, strictly speaking contact cleaner is the best thing to use, but I've used wd40 in the past without it causing any problems.

Well couldn't MOT her :(

Went to the MOT center and waiting in line , finally after 20 minutes we have to go to the desk . Gave the papers and immediately said its not possible.

Reason being i purchased this card in Palencia and on which the last MOT it failed. So now i have to send my car papers to Palencia for them to provide the reason for the car failing the MOT last time. Don't know why they couldn't just test the car again is beyond me

Nothings easy in Spain , such a joke.

End of the day i got to give the ZS a good spanking and dam it goes like stink and handles lovely.

One day it will be legal :/

If its a deep BOING sound, could be the coil spring twisting on the bottom seat.

My one used to do it when backing out on a full lock, stopped it now.

Could try a bit of oil sprayed over the bottom of the coil spring, see if that stops it.

:):):)

Oil catch tank as theres already alot of oil in the throttle body
Re-furb alloys and spray black
Re-spray the middle spoiler part white

Fit my Alcantara to door cards and maybe headlining

Change of plan for the weekend , took the girlfriend and mum to the zoo lol

Not everyday you can play with a baby tiger for 5 minutes :)

Next weekend with be the road to Ronda , plenty of twists and turns....hehe

Does the ZS have an issue with fuel gauge? Noticed it got a mind of it own , i can understand when going fast it drops like a stone but i was in 5th gear idling down hill ( 2500rpm) and the fuel dropped right down till the light was on and then off once the road leveled and returned to just under a quarter of a tank

petet16
24-03-14, 11:43 AM
Yep, normal behaviour for the fuel gauge, all over the place...lol

stamford
24-03-14, 11:44 AM
Yea the gauge can do that if around the 1/4 marker on the level but can go all over the place when cornering hard or on hills.

Set about refurbing the alloy wheels yesterday and today.

Here's what they looked like before on all 4 corners...

Kerb'd to hell from the previous owner.

Got some sanding paper , tub of Bodyalu , primer and gloss black. The first wheel took 7 hours to sand down the Bodyalu as i put way to much on. Sanded down the wheel with 240 sand paper to remove all the crap from the wheels and also sanding the outer rim to smooth out the bumps.

Yea went for the land rover as it's spose to be stronger

How about the clutch operating arm, did you clean and grease it when you fitted the clutch.

Didn't :(

It's been okay till this week and it's starting to annoy be a little. Drop the box I guess to access the arm?

Ah boo, yeah, it's a box off job.

Another possibility is that a little bit of air might have got into the system when you connected the quick release coupling, something that might work is to block the clutch pedal down over night, this allows any air that might be trapped to work its way out through the master cylinder, it's a bit hit and miss wether it'll work but I've done it for brakes before and had a good result.

I'll give it a bash , could of been a chance that when the save popped it could of sucked a little air from the master cylinder..

Start the other side tomorrow ..Need some tyre polish now haha

Tyre slick will set it off nicely! the black makes tyres look worn now.

Also white Wheel nuts!!!

Thought I'd update on my accident , light damage to the grill and bumper . Off the try and match the colour as there's no code.

Been awhile since I've posted. Cars running great , added a few items such as janspeed duplex exhaust , few polybush bushes.

After 4 years of ups and downs and learning alot - the time has come to say goodbye to the MG.

Replacing her will be newly purchased BMW E60 530i 2007 LCI :)

I'd like to say a big thanks to all over the years , hopefully the next owner will take care of her like i have.
